The Year In Food charts the course of the year through inspired, creative cooking and eating with an emphasis on seasonal fruits and vegetables.
I'm a photographer and food blogger based in San Francisco, CA. You can find me regularly at the Etsy blog and bonappetit.com. I also contributed a piece to Volume II of Kinfolk Magazine.

 Tomatillos are such peculiar fruits. Between their brown husks, unpleasantly sticky surface and curious smell, they’re not exactly welcoming. I’m not sure if I’d consider them a prime candidate for consumption were I a neanderthal. But some curious soul did, and we reap the benefits. And thank goodness. Huevos Rancheros usually catches my eye when I’m out for breakfast/brunch. There’s something so core-warming about eggs and salsa for breakfast, and this gorgeous version with avocado is no exception. Natasha Rostov - August 18, 2011 - 11:29 am

Kimberley-I made this last night w/some homemade refried bean tacos w/crumbled queso fresco. Very impressive! I was surprised my blender could break all that down w/o me having to add liquid! And I loved the vibrant taste and color. I’m having a party next weekend and thinking this might have to make an appearance. As always, thanks for the inspiration-and I can’t wait to have this blog in the winter when I’ll really really need seasonal cooking inspiration!  Lately I’ve been listening to a lot of Willie Nelson. He’s pretty much perfect for summertime, what with that winsome, triumphant, bittersweet music that sometimes verges on minimal. When you land on something whose simplicity transports you, it’s kind of a revelation.
